Community Base Savings And Loan Association Meeting

Vulnerable Women, Widows And Orphans Empowerment Project

This program is for disadvantage Households that can not fend for themselves; especially widows and orphans in our reach, We have designed this project to build the capacity of women and their household; through household economic strengthening intervention

Program Mission

The mission of the Empowerment Program is to provide education, employment assistance, health, housing referrals, and support services for women who are in disadvantaged positions due to incarceration, poverty, homelessness, HIV/AIDS infection, and/or involvement in the criminal justice system.

Our Project impact

Established a multipurpose cooperative society with over 100 empowered women membership in Anguwan Kargi, Kaduna South LGA with increased sustainable skills on various trade such as; Cosmetology, shoe & Bag production, etc.; empowered 2900 people from 10 communities in Kaduna State with ICT skills for job creation;  empowered over 3000 women on various trading skills in north west region of Nigeria; increased capacity of 700 youths, including young women on business management skills; linked about 20 marginalized groups and graduates into the labour market, ensuring their product reached beyond the niche market; empowered 200 women from poor households as entrepreneurs through various vocational trade skills with a start-up kits to improve their standard of living, thereby enabling them to send their children back to school; Trained 50 victims of GBV on entrepreneurship skills and facilitate the provision of start up kits.

Project Support

A pilot savings group was formed following the workshop on savings group that was conducted for the care givers and community members. A group of 25 members formed the savings group. Thereafter election was conducted to elect the management committee. The various positions for which they were elected for includes; Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, key holders 1,2&3, money counter 1&2, and box keeper.
The election was conducted using the secret ballot system.
At the end of the 9 month savings period, a successful share out was carried out, which gave birth to the formation of additional 9 VSLA through partnership.
