RECRUITMENT OF BOARD MEMBER

The Incorporated Trustees of FAROF is a registered not-for-profit, Non-Governmental Organization founded in 2011 with its headquarters in Kaduna State, Nigeria. (Part C of the Allied Matters Act (1990) Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja, Nigeria (CAC/IT/NO 61548). FAROF has grown significantly from 2011 to date, managing an income of $6,000/annum to over $ 200, 000 US dollars/annum. with a Consultative Status at the United Nations ECOSOC; FAROF is certified by the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning in the FCT-Abuja, Nigeria (MBNP/NGOIC/S.1320/1). FAROF Work’s in the north Western region of Nigeria and, dedicated towards the improvement of the standard living of Marginalized groups, particularly those living in rural communities.

FAROF wishes to recruit an additional Trustee (1male board member and 2female into its Board of Incorporated Trustees for a renewable 3-year term period in order to ensure Gender balance and FAROF seeks individuals who share the same ideologies to become part of her distinguished Board of Trustees. FAROF is particularly seeking a board member who is:

  1. A chartered accountant, preferably a fellow with experience in working in one of the top chartered accounting firms and who is based in any part of Nigeria.

 

  1. 1female Lawyer who has been called to bar and who is based in any part of Nigeria.

 

 

  • 1 female with any professional discipline in the area of development work and who is based in any part of Nigeria

The roles and responsibilities of FAROF Board Members include:

  • To exercise oversight responsibilities, leadership, and accountability for the decisions, actions, and activities of FAROF.
  • To Discuss and decide the overall strategic direction (vision, mission, and values), strategic goals and objectives, and organizational structures of FAROF.
  • To select, appoint, support, and yearly review the performance of the Executive Director.
  • To participate in the recruitment and termination of the appointment of FAROF staff at the Directorate level.
  • To Review and approve organizational policies, work plans, budgets, staff salaries, and compensation plans.
  • To Review organizational performance and progress, programs, management, finance, and operations, including partnerships and arrangements with institutional associates and partners.
  • To ensure the availability of adequate financial resources.
  • To appoint auditors to audit the financial transactions and financial management practices of the organization annually and submit a report to the Board of Trustees yearly.
  • To represent and project FAROF to enhance its status among its networks and the general public.
  • To ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.
  • To sue for and defend FAROF in its corporate name in court actions concerning FAROF.
  • To apply to the Corporate Affairs Commission for any alteration in FAROF’s name or objects; and approval of any replacement or appointment of additional trustees.
  • To ensure compliance with statutory obligations including submission of annual returns to the Corporate Affairs Commission, in accordance with the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990 and amended Act 2022.

Qualifications for Chartered Accountant

  • Candidates must possess over 10 working years of experience in leadership positions such as being a head of unit/department/division, Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, and Chief Executive Officer or Top managerial level.
  • Be a professional i.e. Chartered accountant, auditor, senior lawyer, medical doctor Public Health practitioner, banker, financial expert, child psychologist, registered nurse, or any registered/certified professional in any field.
  • Qualified male professionals are strongly encouraged to apply to ensure Gender balance.
  • Candidates must be persons of integrity and honesty driven by a passion for service.
  • Candidates must possess a Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the Federal or State Inland Revenue Service.
  • Candidates must be persons of sound mind and have been adjudged by a court to be of sound mind.
  • Candidates must not have been convicted of an offense involving fraud or dishonesty within the last 5 years.
  • Candidates who are residents of Abuja are at an advantage.
  • Candidates with previous Board experience are at an advantage.

 

Qualifications for Lawyer/Legal Representative

 

  • Candidate who Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (L.LB and B.L)
  • Additional professional certifications or postgraduate qualification is an added advantage
  • Candidates must possess over 3 working years of experience in law and leadership positions
  • Experience in working with local civil society organizations, government etc.
  • Very strong report-writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience in the law field.
  • Ability to work well within a team and individually.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Qualifications for professional discipline in the area of development work

  • Candidate can be of any professional discipline
  • Must possess minimum of 5years in the development work and Leadership position.
  • Candidate must have experience of leading groups of any size, small or large
  • Must have Skills of mobilizing resources, including networking skills

KEY NOTE:

Service on FAROF’s Board is without remuneration or any financial benefit, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to Board Members’ duties subject to availability of funds. Please note that FAROF does not give a sitting allowance for attending meetings.
