FAROF Empowers 45 Marginalized women with Business Startups
In the month of July through August, 2020, FAROF provided business startups for about 45 marginalised women who have completed the 3-6 months training on poultry and cosmetology in the following underserved communities in Kaduna state “Kujama, Trikaniya, Kofar galadima, Karauka, Rigassa, Albarkawa, and Albarkawa communities of Chikun, Igabi, and Zaria LGAs respectively, and while they are all scheduled for 3months continuous mentorship by their varied trainers, with a developed transition plan for sustainability.
The empowerment program was first launched at Kujama community for poultry beneficiaries, and had in attendance, the District heads, Mai-anguwas (community leaders) and beneficiaries. The CEO alongside the community leader performed the ceremonial cutting of tapes to flag off the distribution of materials. Items distributed for poultry beneficiaries were Day old chicks, Feeds, drinkers, feeders, saw dust, lanterns, charcoal, drugs/medication etc, while items distributed for cosmetology beneficiaries were; chemicals for liquid soap, Vaseline, air fresheners, Izal and packaging containers. Beneficiaries were encouraged by the CEO to make good use of this opportunity to establish themselves so that others in the community can also benefit. A total of 45 beneficiaries were empowered in the targeted 3LGAs in this phase.
